Welcome to the Village of La Grange Park Accessibility Improvements Engagement Platform. Our aim is to develop a comprehensive Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) public right-of-way (PROW) transition plan that ensures that the transportation infrastructure, services, and programs within our municipality are fully accessible to individuals with disabilities.

This plan will serve as a strategic roadmap for identifying and assessing barriers that currently impede accessibility on roads, sidewalks, crosswalks and other components of the public right-of-way.

By integrating community feedback with detailed assessments, we will pinpoint specific challenges and develop practical, innovative solutions to enhance accessibility. These solutions will focus on the sidewalk sections that pose the greatest barrier to access in areas that are likely to receive high amounts of pedestrian activity.

A transition plan must:

  • Identify physical obstacles that limit accessibility
  • Provide an opportunity for the public to participate in developing the plan
  • Describe how the facilities will be made accessible
  • Include a schedule to achieve compliance
  • List the official responsible for implementing the plan

No one knows your community better than you, so we invite you to join us in this important effort. Throughout the planning process there will be opportunities to provide feedback on the greatest challenges associated with walking/wheeling in your community, walking patterns, and help establish a vision for the future of pedestrian travel around the Village. Your input will help shape a more inclusive environment where everyone can participate and engage fully.

The planning process starts with a complete inventory of the existing sidewalks, curb ramps, bus stops, and traffic signals throughout the Village. So don’t be surprised if you see us walking around over the next couple of months!

Pedestrian Challenges Map

3 months

Instructions

We want to gain a better understanding of the challenges pedestrians face when walking around the Village of La Grange Park:

  • Are there certain intersections that you don't feel safe crossing?
  • Are there intersections where you think new street crossing need to be added?
  • Is there a block in the Village where the existing condition of the sidewalk can be dangerous to pedestrians?

To get started, go to the map and click the + sign to the left to open the pin menu. Please drag and drop a pin in a specific location on the map and describe in detail what challenge you face there (e..g, no sidewalk is provided, sidewalk is uneven, no curb ramps are present).

Feel free to upload a photo and answer as many times as you would like. The information that you provide will be invaluable as the Village and CMAP start planning a more accessible La Grange Park.

Please note your comments and photos will be publicly available.
