The Village of Palos Park is working with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to create a transportation safety plan. This plan will work to eliminate deaths and serious injuries caused by traffic crashes. Crash data, community feedback, and best practices in traffic safety will guide the recommendations of the plan. Local partners will be able to use the plan to apply for funding to implement transportation safety improvements in Palos Park.

CMAP uses a Safe Systems approach in our work. This approach focuses on preventative, redundant, and harm-reducing strategies to improve safety for all roadway users, with a focus on vulnerable individuals, including as pedestrians and bicyclists.
