The Village of Sugar Grove and CMAP launched the plan process in October of 2021 to update the Village's Comprehensive Plan. The last Comprehensive Plan was completed in 2005. A lot had changed in the last 16 years and Sugar Grove needed a roadmap to the future informed by the community’s vision, values, objectives, and market realities of today. The Village of Sugar Grove was so pleased to partner with CMAP on this comprehensive planning effort. Together, we worked to shape a vision for the future of Sugar Grove that aligns with CMAP's ON TO 2050 principles of resiliency, inclusive growth, and prioritized investment.

The planning process served to establish a vision through careful analysis of existing patterns and trends and continuous conversations with the Sugar Grove community about preferences and priorities for the future of the Village.

Topics explored as part of this process included:

  • Land use, growth, and development
  • Transportation and mobility (walking, driving, biking, and transit)
  • Quality of life issues
  • Environmental justice
  • Affordable housing
  • Conservation and natural resources
  • Infrastructure and utilities
  • Implementation of plan recommendations

The planning process officially began in October 2021 and concluded in April 2023. See the project schedule below to get a sense of the major project phases and community engagement windows. Over the course of the project, the Village and CMAP hosted—alongside our consulting partner, Design Workshop—various opportunities to engage with the planning team in person and virtually, including public workshops, presentations, interviews, and online activities.
