Plan adopted - May 9, 2024

The Calumet City Subarea Plan was adopted by the Calumet City City Council on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The plan is available here or under the Documents widget on the right-hand side of the webpage.

Calumet City is working with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) to develop a Subarea Plan for an area on the eastern edge of the city that includes key economic and transportation corridors as well as residential areas experiencing flooding issues.

Building on previous citywide planning efforts, this plan aims to create a more livable, walkable, and resilient community for years to come. It will seek opportunities to make the roadway and sidewalks safer, bring businesses and investment to the area, and address flooding and stormwater management issues that impact residents and businesses alike.
