Welcome to the City of Berwyn Accessibility Improvements Engagement Platform. The goal of this project was to improve safety and accessibility for everyone who uses our sidewalks, including people with disabilities, and make our sidewalks and pedestrian facilities fully accessible to all individuals. Our aim was to develop a comprehensive Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) public right-of-way (PROW) transition plan that ensures that the transportation infrastructure, services, and programs within our municipality are fully accessible for all residents.

The self-evaluation of the sidewalks and curb ramps is underway and on-site field work will be completed in October 2024. The self-evaluation phase will be completed in Winter-Spring 2025.

A kick-off meeting will be held in November to jumpstart community engagement and gather feedback from residents on the challenges they face around the community. This will be the first of several opportunities for the public to provide feedback on priorities and help guide the development of the ADA Transition Plan.

Based on community feedback and city priorities, a prioritization map will be developed to guide future improvements. This phase is anticipated to be completed in Winter-Spring 2025.
