FLIP is the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning's (CMAP) leadership development program for high school and college students in northeastern Illinois. FLIP is a free summer program where students learn about the issues that shape our region and meet and interact with leaders who make key planning decisions in our communities.

Welcome to your first week at FLIP! We're all looking forward to spending the next few weeks together in learning more about urban planning and learning  more about you.

    Hi all! My name is Will Snyder and I’m entering my fourth year at Ball State University, studying Urban Planning and Development with a minor in Political Science. Growing up in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago for most of my life, I am hopeful to start my professional career in Chicagoland and want to gain from this program some background on regional initiatives and projects. I hope to gain knowledge on the current urban planning projects that are taking place in the Chicago area and what planners prioritize when starting or choosing a project. For example, are environmental, social, or economic factors prioritized over another? My favorite thing to do in the summer is to go on the lake with friends and family.
