The City of Hickory Hills partnered with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to create its first Comprehensive Plan and establish a vision and land use strategy for the City. The Plan will help residents and elected, and appointed officials guide future actions, decisions, and development in the community. The current challenges over the last year and a half have shown us that the way we live, work, shop, connect, and play is constantly evolving. People have new expectations and aspirations for the places they call home. We want to make Hickory Hills the best it can be now and into the future. 


The Planning Team crafted an extensive and collaborative engagement program for this planning process to ensure the success of the Hickory Hills Comprehensive Plan. The program incorporated numerous engagement opportunities throughout each phase of the project, including an online website with engagement activities, the formation of a steering committee, interviews with local stakeholders, community-wide surveys, and community open houses and pop-up events. Accessibility was a key driving force of the program, incorporating multi-lingual opportunities and online exercises and partnering with community advocates to help expand our reach.

    HICKORY HILLS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

    The City of Hickory Hills has partnered with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to create its first Comprehensive Plan and establish a vision and land use strategy for the City. The Plan will explore how the City can better understand and address these changing times, such as a changing retail environment; transportation mobility innovations; an aging population; evolving housing preferences; different work and commuting habits; and an increased focus on environmental issues and sustainability.

    Hickory Hills needs your input – Tell us what you think!

    The purpose of this first Hickory Hills Community Survey is to hear your thoughts regarding the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of the City of Hickory Hills. You know Hickory Hills best! 

    The survey should take roughly 15 to 20 minutes to complete, and you can skip over questions at any time. Survey participants who are registered to the Hickory Hills site can save answers and return to the survey at a later time. We appreciate you taking the time to help make Hickory Hills the best it can be!

    OPEN HOUSE FOLLOW UP SURVEY

    If you missed the second community open house Wednesday August 17th, no problem! Review the exhibits from the open house to see what was discussed and take this follow up survey to share your thoughts and ideas. Your input on these planning initiatives is critical to help prioritize City efforts and shape potential strategies and solutions! Spread the word to family and friends. 


    This survey is organized into seven planning topic areas: Land Use and Development, Parks and Open Space, Neighborhoods and Housing, Economic Development, Transportation and Mobility, Community Design, and Utilities and Community Facilities. Each topic includes a series of questions about prioritizing key recommendations, design concepts, and visual preference. This survey may take 10-15 minutes, we appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback and help make Hickory Hills the best it can be!
