Indian Creek Watershed-based Plan

Think about the places you go to or travel by within your watershed community. Are there some places that seem like problem areas? Areas that don't seem quite right or areas where you have a concern about water or habitat quality? If you have seen or experienced areas of flooding, erosion, or water quality issues or concerns, please let us know! You can choose from eight pin categories below that address these areas of concerns:

1. Flooding
2. Erosion - streambank, shoreline
3. Erosion - gully formation
4. Stream blockage
5. Litter or trash
6. Dumping
7. Water quality issue
8. Sediment buildup
9. Other (describe)

Place/drop pins inside the Indian Creek watershed planning area (purple line) to let us know what types of water and habitat quality problems you've seen or concerns you may have.  

• Zoom in to find the area of interest. Note: The aerial image view may change to an older aerial image as you zoom in. 
• Click the + sign to the left to open the pin menu. 
• Select a pin for your category and drag it onto the map to where you want to place it. Use the comment box to provide details. You also can upload a relevant photo if you'd like. 
• Click the SUBMIT button when you are done placing a pin. Note: Once you press SUBMIT, the pin cannot be removed.

Share your ideas for protecting or improving water quality and habitat in the Indian Creek planning area! Your ideas help and can lead to "on-the-ground" construction projects, and educational activities and programs for residents. Your input can help better monitor stream conditions and update local plans and policies. These types of things are called "best management practices," or BMPs for short. These practices help better promote and protect water quality.

In this mapping exercise, we've divided the many types of BMPs into 10 main categories, including:    

1. Filtration / infiltration practices
2. Impervious (hard) surface reduction 
3. Stormwater detention basin improvement
4. Storm sewer inlet improvement
5. Stream, river, or lake project
6. Open space or natural area creation / restoration
7. Agricultural practices
8. Public information, education, involvement
9. Policy and planning
10. Other recommendation

A column will open on the left with a comment box and a checklist of specific BMP types under each category. Scroll down and select the specific BMP type(s) for your pin location by clicking its check box (you may need to scroll down the column quite a bit). 
• Use the comment box to provide more details about your idea [i.e., estimate of BMP size (acres, square feet, length/width) or count/number; cost estimate if available; priority level: high, moderate, low]. You also can upload a relevant photo if you'd like.
• Scroll down to the bottom of the column and click the SUBMIT button when you're done with that BMP.  Note: Once you press SUBMIT, the pin cannot be removed. 
• Repeat the process to add other BMP pins.

CMAP staff will use inputs to this map to document past (up to 20 years or so) and current/ongoing BMPs, including "on-the-ground" construction projects, educational activities and programs for residents, policy & planning updates, and monitoring programs as they are applicable to promoting, protecting, and improving water quality.
