Libertyville Plan for Accessible Streets and Sidewalks

The Village of Libertyville is creating a plan for more accessible sidewalks, crosswalks, and streets that meet the needs of everyone, including people with disabilities. We need your help! On this page, you’ll find:

• A survey to share accessibility challenges you’ve encountered getting around Libertyville, as well as general feedback on accessibility of Village services and programs.
• An interactive map where you can place pins on the map to show where you’ve experienced or seen barriers to accessibility.
• Coming soon: meetings and local events where you can learn more about the project and provide feedback. Check out the calendar to the right for upcoming in-person and virtual engagement opportunities.

Your input will help pinpoint specific challenges and develop practical, innovative solutions to enhance accessibility in our community. This will inform the public right-of-way component (e.g. anywhere people walk, wheel, bike, or drive) of Libertyville’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transition plan. This plan will serve as a strategic roadmap to ensure that the transportation infrastructure, services, and programs within Libertyville are fully accessible to individuals with disabilities.

Just so you’re aware, the planning process starts with a complete inventory of the existing Village-maintained sidewalks, curb ramps, and traffic signals throughout the Village. So don’t be surprised if you see us walking around over the next couple of months!
