Burlington Comprehensive Plan 

With support from CMAP&rsquo;s <a href="https://www.cmap.illinois.gov/programs/LTA" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Local Technical Assistance (LTA) program</a>, <a href="https://www.co.mchenry.il.us/county-government/departments-j-z/planning-development" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">McHenry County Department of Planning and Development </a>and <a href="https://cityofmchenry.org/ed" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">City of McHenry Department of Economic Development</a> are leading a collaborative effort to develop a Fox River Corridor Plan that will focus on:<ul style="margin-left: 20px;"><li>Commerce within central business districts adjacent to the river&#39;s edge</li><li>Environment and natural resources (including water resources)</li><li>Multi-modal connections to/on the river</li><li>Public access and recreational use to/on the river and adjacent to business districts</li></ul><h2>We want to hear from you! </h2>Public input is crucial to developing a plan that is driven by the needs and vision of the community. Future of the Fox River: Burtons Bridge to Johnsburg 

CMAP, as the regional Metropolitan Planning Organization, is is sponsoring the Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study through the federal coordination process and is providing the funding necessary to support this planning initiative. CMAP is working in coordination with the City of Joliet, the jurisdiction agency for Laraway Road. Through this PEL Study, the Purpose and Need and the results of the alternatives screening can be carried forward into the engineering phase, saving time and effort during that phase of project development. This PEL Study is also developing an early, planning-level cost estimate and an initial funding strategy, both of which can help the City decide whether the project should move forward.

This heavily used trail brings visitors through Berkeley, Hillside, and other communities.The Village of Berkeley, Village of Hillside, and the Berkeley Park District, in partnership with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (<a href="https://www.cmap.illinois.gov/">CMAP</a>), are working to develop a shared vision for the Prairie Path and Taft Avenue corridor to increase pedestrian and bicycle traffic along the path, attract businesses to the area, and enhance parks and open space for residents and path users.To develop a vision for the study area, we need your help! Prairie Path and Taft Avenue Corridor Plan

We seek your feedback on the draft plan for this area. CMAP will use your input to revise the plan before submitting the final version to the Algonquin and Cary village boards for their consideration.This open house event is virtual in compliance with the State of Illinois&#39; Executive Orders regarding COVID-19 and public health guidance. This virtual open house will be open and accepting public comments any time through February 28, 2021. How to ParticipateThe virtual open house has five &quot;stations&quot; with information about the draft plan. Algonquin-Cary Subarea Plan 

For the Garfield Green Line South station, CMAP is working with community groups and the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) to update the Community Work Plan put together by Elevated Chicago, with the specific goal of continuing the progress of turning the station into a community asset. Elevated Chicago is a collaboration of 17 public, private and nonprofit organizations, including CMAP, that have come together to build equity into transit-oriented development in Chicago by improving health, safety, climate resilience, and cultural vitality indicators of people of color living and working near transit.

The project seeks to understand the impact that decades of disinvestment have had and work to change the narrative around a community with strong, positive amenities – including Washington Park, XS Tennis, Sweetwater Foundation, and DuSable Museum. 

A more equitable approach to TOD is needed, one that prioritizes the retention of residents and businesses, and allows for more inclusive growth around transit. Following Elevated Chicago’s work, this project will establish a set of community-driven priorities targeting People, Places and Process in support of equitable TOD (eTOD).  

Elevated Chicago started its work around seven CTA train stations, establishing eHubs (equitable hubs), within the ½-mile radius circle around each station. The eHubs are generally grouped into four geographies: Logan Square Blue Line station, California Pink Line station, Kedzie/Lake Green Line and Kedzie-Homan Blue Line (Kedzie Corridor) stations, and 51st Street, Garfield, and 63rd Street Green Line stations. This LTA project will be working specifically with the Garfield Green Line South station.

Garfield Green Line South Action Plan

The Hegewisch Business Association is working with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and Alderwoman Garza over the next two years to develop a neighborhood plan for Hegewisch that will help guide choices and decisions that are made in the future. The map at right shows the project study area (please click to enlarge)       The plan will primarily focus on how to make Baltimore Avenue a vibrant place where people want to be, the center of life in Hegewisch. It will identify feasible economic development opportunities, as well as smart streetscape and placemaking strategies, that will help Baltimore Avenue reach its potential.The plan will also find ways to make it easier and more pleasant for residents to take transit, and recommend ways to make the neighborhood better for pedestrians and biking, including strengthening the connection between Baltimore Avenue and recreational areas around Wolf Lake.
