Rolling Meadows Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan

Welcome to the project website for the Rolling Meadows Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan.
Our goal is to develop a plan for walking and bicycling that benefits all Rolling Meadows community members and focuses on safe, comfortable routes that connect people of all ages and abilities to important destinations.
What is this project?
The City of Rolling Meadows has partnered with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) to create the Rolling Meadows Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan. The plan will develop recommendations the represents the vision of the Rolling Meadows community.
Through data collection and analysis, community listening and feedback, the Rolling Meadows Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan will:
1. Understand the barriers and challenges people walking, biking, and rolling face.
2. Identify a complete, connected network of bikeways and sidewalks that allow all community members to access key destinations by walking, biking, or rolling.
3. Identify street improvements and other strategies that improve pedestrian and cyclist safety and comfort.
Why does this project focus on walking and bicycling?
It is important that our communities have streets that are safe, comfortable, and accessible for all users, including people who travel by foot, mobility device, or bike. Bicycling and walking have economic, environmental, social, and health benefits. They can also be fun ways to travel!
By making our streets friendly for people walking and biking of all ages and abilities, our community members will have safer and more comfortable opportunities to bike and walk to school, work, parks, local businesses, and to family and friends in Rolling Meadows.

How can I get involved?
This website will be updated with surveys and maps where users can share their lived experience while getting around Rolling Meadows which will inform the recommendations of our final plan.
Please feel free to regularly check this website, and reach out to Rolling Meadows city staff to receive notices for upcoming public engagement events where CMAP staff will be speaking with residents in person as well as passing out CMAP swag as a thank you for sharing your insights with us.
