The Hegewisch Business Association has been working with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) over the past two years to develop a neighborhood plan for Hegewisch that will help guide choices and decisions that are made in the future. Read the final plan! The recommendations focus on how to make Hegewisch's central business area--centered on Baltimore and Brandon Avenues--a vibrant place, the center of life in the neighborhood. But the recommendations also address many other challenges and opportunities that were identified as priorities by the community over the past two years. The recommendations are organized under the following five goals:

Community garden outdoor patio area
The corner of 133rd baltimore should be bought and converted into in outdoor seating / walk through garden. That way people can go there to eat the food bought in town etc. It creates way better eye appeal.

Measures to control the illegal driving of 18 wheel semi trucks down our residential streets please!!!!!!!
I fear that one of these trucks illegally traveling on avenue O & East 134th is going to flip and destroy a home or run over a bike rider or child. We absolutely need measures to stop them. The signs in place are not stopping them and we have 100s per day terrorizing our residential blocks.

Hi I'm maya and I think you should also include MORE AFFORDABLE LOWINCOM HOUSING.
Add more clothing and furniture stores. And a CURRENCY EXCHANGE .add some BRIGHTER STREET LIGHTS because sometimes the streets be looking a little too dark

Spice Girls Monument and Plaza!!!
Why not partner with the Chicago Monument project and create a plaza/gazebo area like mentioned below but with a Spice Girls Statue and dedication? The spice girls might sound random for Hegewisch but it’s a total win a biracial global music group who promoted equality and acceptance! Hegewisch is my home but also a prefect place to feature this, being a neighborhood for everyone just like the Spice Girls. This would create a lot of positive press and media frenzy, add park space and seating to the area for pedestrians. It would give tourists a reason to ride the train to Hegewisch. Put it on Baltimore in the ugly empty lot and call it Girl Power Park it would be hugely successful. This would bring pedestrians and eventually I would love to open a themed cafe next to it with all my memorabilia further increasing the appeal to visit this monument!

We need a place for seniors to meet. Currently, seniors are going to Hammond,IN to Pulaski Park where they hired someone to run programs.
