Portable speed radar signs

The Village proposes to increase travel safety by investing in portable radar signs. The Lansing Police Department will have the ability to move these signs to problem locations to encourage drivers to reduce their speed.

New sidewalk/ complete sidewalk network

Not every street in Lansing has sidewalks; even where sidewalks exist, segments may be missing. The Village proposes to take an inventory of sidewalks to identify areas where the sidewalk network needs to be completed and take action to connect them to increase pedestrian safety. This is a multi-year plan.

Hire an arborist to maintain tree health and oversee new tree plantings

The Village proposes to hire an arborist to assess and improve its urban forest. This individual will inventory parkway trees, make recommendations for maintenance, identify areas to plant, and oversee new plantings.

Safe Routes to School program

The Village proposes to increase safe routes to school by identifying and correcting hazards that students and parents may face as they walk or bike to school. Our solutions may involve relocating sidewalks situated too close to roads and ditches, installing new walkways, adding stoplights, and addressing other safety concerns.
